Each day this week I have been able to hear the sounds of saws, jackhammers and other loud noises as construction has begun on what will be my new living space. It is always an amazing process to see as builders begin by tearing down the old, in order to make room for the new, and to see slowly as a building takes shape.
One of my favorite movies of all time is Life As A House. It tells the story of a man estranged from his son and former wife and through the metaphor of tearing down an old house and building a new one on the same land, he and his family knock down the walls that have kept them separate and build a home together.
I am in continual need of tearing down walls, of getting rid of the things that keep me from living the life God intended and constructing habits that help me to grow into a better human being. I hope that living near a real construction zone for the next few months will serve as a reminder to me of the other places in my life that are under construction and the need to take it one step at a time.

Glad you are a loyal Tigers fan! Yes....deep thoughts. Here's one from Jack Handy....."If trees could scream, do you think we would be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might be, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason."
